UK Election 2010
The major candidates are David Cameron of Conservative Party, Gordon Brown of current Labour party and Nick Clegg for Liberal Democrats.
Labour party's issues are: Everyone gets childcare, schools, the NHS and policing, House of Lord to be electable.
Conservative's issues are: Reducing Inheritance tax, Non-profit organisations can set up independent school, cut off the budget deficit, Scrap identity card, Increasing the benefit of marital status
Liberal Democrat's issues are: Protecting Illegal Immigration, Written Constitution, Single-transferable Vote, Premium given for school with poor people, To change the National Curriculum to Minimal Curriculum Entitlement.
This parliamentary election in UK is held for the seat of the Parliament where people choose the MP for their county. Then the party with the most seat win the election and its leader become prime minister
This is different from US because US have separate election for president and the member of the Congress while UK election decides both the seats in parliament and Prime Minister at the same time. Also election in UK can adjust the date for election while US have fixed date for the elections.
I think Nick Clegg is going to be the best prime minister because of three reasons. Firstly LIberal Democrat says that the illegal Immigrant can have a chance to be legal immigrant. I really like this policy because it protect their own human right, which are currently abuse in cause of being illegal immigrant. Secondly I like about the idea of 'written constitution,' as it would narrow the too broad interpretation of UK judiciary due to lack of superior evidence over common laws.
Finally the third reason why I like Lib Dem is that it introduces the Minimal Curriculum Entitlement rather than current National Curriculum System. The entitlement will allow more flexible teaching, which I feel it is neccessary in UK education. Currently UK education is solidified to keep up with the national curriculum, allowing fixed response from each student and thus the less creativity is encouraged in UK.

ReplyDeleteYour evidence really does support Nick Clegg as an honourable prime minister. However I believe that based on his policies David Cameron would be the best prime minister. You frequently mention immigration in your post. I utterly and completely disagree with illegal immigration having the opportunity to become legal immigration. This will hideously raise the influx of immigration to the UK. The country's life quality will decrease and it will definitely not aid the economy. I'm completely sure the conservative David Cameron immigration policy (cutting it down basically) makes more sense.
That being said, it was a pleasure to read your post! You write really well...

ReplyDeleteReally good post, lots of analysis of the current state of the UK, and what you think is needed. Looking at your reasons for choosing Nick Clegg as the best one to become the new Prime Minister, it does make some sense, but I still think David Cameron is the best overall. The points that you brought up for Nick Clegg, his plans for education etc. are all good, but looking over at economic policies of the parties and other issues as such, I think the Conservatives and David Cameron will, overall, deliver better solutions to what Britain needs the most today. In terms of economy, I think their solutions and ideas will work the best, and I just prefer their way of thinking. I've never been very conservative, but I prefer this, not thinking in terms of parties, but what they will deliver.
